Christmas brings hope from God
As we Christians celebrate Christmas, it’s good to once again reflect on the real meaning of this celebration. God, the creator of the universe, reached out to humanity by sending his human representative, his son, Jesus, despite the knowledge that he would be rejected, persecuted and executed.
But through Jesus, God proved His love for humanity, as well as His power through Jesus’ resurrection.
Of course, Christians don’t have a monopoly on God’s love. Throughout history non-Christians and Christians alike have experienced God’s love. But Christmas is a tangible reminder that despite the suffering and pain on this temporary sojourn we call Earth, and despite our own imperfections, there is hope. For God lives and loves — through all who spread God’s love. Merry Christmas!

Deportees left debt behind
You can tell how much the governor and the president really care about undocumented immigrants working here (versus what they say), when the companies that employ them continue to openly do business without penalty.
A great example (and just one example) is a road building company with fat contracts here in the Sunshine State. They’ve been hiring undocumented folks for years, and as reported in the Tampa Bay Times, virtually without penalty. To make matters worse, the company puts these workers at higher than normal risks, with an on the job death rate roughly double the norm. Both the feds and the state promised investigations, but for some strange reason, those investigations were quietly closed. On top of that the governor has rewarded this company with contracts, nearly $1.6 billion to date. Despite his constant diatribes about law and order, the new sheriff at the state level, James Uthmeier, sees no problems; nor do his counterparts at the federal level. One has to wonder what sort of influence is being peddled to enjoy such largesse.

Going after Trump
The two viewpoints on the Dec. 21 opinion page about Trump Derangement Syndrome clearly show that TDS is real. Jared Whitley provides numerous examples of Democrats behaving to spite President Trump, without even thinking of the American people. Solomon Stevens provides no examples to back up his assertions. He states “a few Democrats” can’t stand Trump, but I believe the number is much higher, closer to 100%, just as in the newspaper that printed the opinion piece.
Stevens backs up his assertions by saying, whether we support Trump or not, we have to acknowledge Trump is doing a lot of things wrong. He doesn’t name one thing Trump is doing wrong, but we should take his word for it. He just doesn’t like the fact that TDS is real, and it affects every liberal out there who refuses to deal in facts, so there’s no sense in arguing with them as they don’t believe anything a Trump supporter would say. The difference of opinion is clear. In my view, the Trump supporter provides facts, and the anti-Trump writer doesn’t like the idea of being labeled as someone with TDS, and provides no facts. Typical.
