Cop injured by explosive hurled at police car, authorities say

A Paterson police officer was briefly hospitalized on Sunday night after his patrol car was struck with an “incendiary device,” the Office of the Attorney General’s Office said.

The officer, whose identity was withheld, was on responding to a call and traveling on Presidential Boulevard just before midnight when his front windshield was shattered by an incendiary object. The concussive force of the explosion damaged the officer’s ears, but he was not burned, an AG spokesman said Tuesday.
