Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield team up for cannabis product based on famous boxing moment, stump for legal weed

Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield will be entering the ring as partners for their latest fight: Destigmatizing cannabis.

The boxing legends are using the infamous moment where Tyson bit a chunk of Holyfield’s ear off during their heavyweight title fight in 1997 to create “Holy Ears,” THC and Delta-8 THC-infused edibles that are shaped like bitten ears, which will launch in November through “TYSON 2.0,” the boxer’s cannabis company.

Tyson and Holyfield reunite under the newly formed Carma Holdings, which house TYSON 2.0 and Holyfield’s own cannabis line that will begin in 2023.

Tyson, who has been a cannabis advocate for some time, said it was his wife, Kiki’s, idea to have “Holy Ears” as a product.

“I said, ‘That’s awesome.’ Then, we played with it, we released it, it was an immediate success,” Tyson, who initially dropped the product as “Mike Bites,” told Fox News Digital. “It was immediate success, and so I was saying, ‘Why don’t Evander get involved too?’”

Holyfield was admittedly a bit skeptical about the partnership. It is not that it had anything to do with Tyson personally but, like many others when it comes to the cannabis space, Holyfield was not educated on the products until he went searching for some answers.

“They said it’s about helping people,” Holyfield told Fox News Digital. “So I said, ‘I ain’t got no problem helping people.’ I didn’t know if it was something that I had to act like I was smoking reefer. I realized it is for helping somebody else. So the fact that [it was] something that helped somebody else, I was fine with that.”

“We’re happy to have Evander in. We wanted him in since the beginning when we launched this. It’s been great,” Chad Bronstein, Carma Holdings chairman and co-founder and president of TYSON 2.0, added.

Cannabis is a hot topic, especially since five states had proposals during the midterm elections to approve the legalization of recreational marijuana. Voters in Maryland and Missouri approved the legalization, while Arkansas, North Dakota and South Dakota rejected it.

“They just don’t get it yet. They don’t see it,” Tyson said. “They don’t agree with this situation. It’s going to run right over them and everybody they love. It’s just too powerful. It’s God, it’s divine, it’s cannabis.”

As he was educating himself, Holyfield saw that cannabis was helping Tyson.

“The point is anything helping somebody, why would someone want to step in the way when something is helping somebody else?” Holyfield questioned.

In sports, policies on marijuana usage has been relaxed to a degree, though it is still a banned substance on the United States Anti-Doping Agency list.

However, the NFL announced earlier this year they will be investigating the effects of cannabis on pain management and neuroprotection from concussions to their football players. MLB struck a deal with a CBD brand as the first U.S. sports league with an official cannabis partner. Additionally, the NBA extended its policy to no longer test players for cannabis, which has been the case since 2020 when the league shut down due to the pandemic.

While these are the biggest organizations in U.S. sports, there is more work to be done. It may not be tested as hard, but Tyson knows athletes are still wary to be as front-facing with cannabis use because of the general thought about it.

BOXING LEGEND MIKE TYSON SAYS HIS ‘EXPIRATION DATE’ IS COMING ‘REALLY SOON’

“It talks for itself. The athletes know it speaks for itself,” Tyson said of his products. “They just don’t want to come out and hurt a contract or whatever they do because of the cannabis, and it’s not legal. But once it has that federal stamp of approval, what can I say? We can go anywhere. Sky is the limit.”

Bronstein added, “I do believe we have a path to same thinking and federal legalization. When you look at what we’re doing, we’re destigmatizing it. You’re trying to destigmatize it. That’s what Mike’s been lending his voice to. I think it’s getting more and more accepted. And when COVID happened, it was really accepted when it was deemed an essential and that you can’t go anywhere except the grocery store and you can buy weed. So that was kind of a pretty big turning point for us.”

As a boxer, Holyfield mentioned the anxiety levels he would get to once he got in the ring during fights. He was not allowed to then, but if something like “Holy Ears” was available, he suggested it may have been something to help quiet the nerves.

“When it comes down to anxiety attacks, when I get in that ring, it’s kinda hard to breathe,” Holyfield said. “But if there’s something that helps me, why would somebody say, ‘No, you can’t do that’ if it’s going to help you?

EVANDER HOLYFIELD AT 58: ‘I’VE BEEN TAKING CARE OF MY BODY’

“I found that marijuana helps a lot of different things. …I don’t want to be a part of something that tears people down but helps them.”

TYSON 2.0 is in 25 states as well as Canada. “Ric Flair Drip,” WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair’s cannabis company which Carma Holdings also has under its umbrella, is in 15 states right now. Eventually, Bronstein believes this can have an international reach.

“It’s about education,” he said. “[Evander] went out and did his due diligence. Ric Flair never smoked weed until he started Ric Flair Drip. He stopped taking Xanax and Ambien. He’ll tell you that straight up. So it’s education. It’s opening your mind and eyes to something and learning why it helps people and how it can help you.”

Although no longer in the ring, Tyson knows that cannabis would have been a huge help for him back in his prime.

“If I was on cannabis, I would’ve never bit his ear!” Tyson said to Holyfield.

Suspected Texas home invader impersonating cop inadvertently shoots accomplice, meets own death: Authorities

Texas authorities are searching for two suspects who fled the scene of a botched home invasion that left one suspect dead.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said that just after 11 p.m. on Thursday “multiple suspects” dressed in body armor kicked in a door at a residence in Katy, which is located about 30 miles outside of Houston.

Once they made it into the home, for “unknown reasons,” the suspects “began shooting immediately,” with one suspect allegedly “inadvertently” shooting his accomplice.

There were three residents in the home at the time of the suspected shooting, including the homeowner’s two adult sons. The sons told KTRK they were trying to go to sleep when they heard banging on their door by people identifying themselves as Houston police officers.

The sons went to confront the suspects and were immediately faced with gunfire aimed in their direction. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said that it could have been at this time when the one suspect inadvertently shot the other one.

The wounded suspect dropped his firearm and tried to flee the scene, according to authorities. One of the sons picked up the dropped gun and fatally shot the other suspected home invader.

The wounded suspect then ran to a dark-colored getaway car that was being driven by a third suspect and fled.

Investigators said they do not believe the home invasion was random and launched an investigation to determine the motive. Authorities are still searching for the two suspects who fled.

Xi & Biden Condemn Nuclear Rhetoric Over Ukraine, Seek To ‘Manage’ Competition In 3-Hour G20 Meeting

Xi & Biden Condemn Nuclear Rhetoric Over Ukraine, Seek To ‘Manage’ Competition In 3-Hour G20 Meeting

The high-stakes G20 Bali meeting between President Biden and Chinese leader Xi has concluded after three hours on Monday, having begun at 4:41am ET/5:41pm local time. Two cabinet-level officials were included seated on Biden’s side –  Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen, with the former official having previously called China the “most serious long-term challenge to the international order.” Also at the table was national security adviser Jake Sullivan.

In opening remarks going into the meeting President Xi Jinping had said, “Currently the China-US relationship is in such a situation that we all care a lot about it, because this is not the fundamental interest of our two countries and peoples, and it is not what the international community expects (from) us.”

“As leaders of the two major countries we need to chart the right course for the US-China relationship,” Xi added. “In this time and age great changes are unfolding in ways like never before, humanity is confronted with unprecedented challenges, the world has come to a crossroads.”

“Where to go from here is a question that is not only on our minds, but also on the minds of all countries.” the Chinese leader stressed.

The White House has signaled there are no plans to make fundamental concessions to Xi, nor are there any expected major breakthroughs, also as the war on Ukraine overshadows the Group of 20 summit. Here’s how the meeting started as the two leaders entered the room

“Good to see you,” Biden said to Xi before they joined US and Chinese officials. The two sides sat at long conference tables with a display of flowers between them.

We share a responsibility, in my view, to show China and the United States can manage our differences, prevent competition from coming anywhere near conflict, and find ways to work better together,” Biden said to kick off the talks.

As for Xi, he agreed on the “need to find the right direction” and “elevate the relationship.” Among the chief foreign policy issues discussed were Ukraine, Taiwan, and North Korea. All eyes have been on China’s continued resistance to Western pressure on Ukraine, given Beijing has never once condemned the invasion, while at the same time has called for negotiations and the avoidance of escalation.

On trade and the economy, CNN reported, “Speaking with reporters in Bali, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said the meeting was intended to stabilize the relationship and expressed hopes that it would lay the groundwork for bilateral economic engagement.”

China’s Foreign Ministry immediately following the meeting described the lengthy meeting as including a “candid and in-depth exchange of views.”

The White House readout issued within an hour of the meeting concluding said that Biden stressed readiness to “compete vigorously with the PRC, including by investing in sources of strength at home and aligning efforts with allies and partners around the world,” however reiterated that this “competition should not veer into conflict and underscored that the United States and China must manage the competition responsibly and maintain open lines of communication.”

And more, the per the White House:

President Biden underscored that the United States and China must work together to address transnational challenges – such as climate change, global macroeconomic stability including debt relief, health security, and global food security – because that is what the international community expects. The two leaders agreed to empower key senior officials to maintain communication and deepen constructive efforts on these and other issues. They welcomed ongoing efforts to address specific issues in U.S.-China bilateral relations, and encouraged further progress in these existing mechanisms, including through joint working groups. They also noted the importance of ties between the people of the United States and the PRC.

On China’s human rights record and the Taiwan issue, President Biden said the following:

President Biden raised concerns about PRC practices in Xinjiang, Tibet, and Hong Kong, and human rights more broadly. On Taiwan, he laid out in detail that our one China policy has not changed, the United States opposes any unilateral changes to the status quo by either side, and the world has an interest in the maintenance of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. He raised U.S. objections to the PRC’s coercive and increasingly aggressive actions toward Taiwan, which undermine peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and in the broader region, and jeopardize global prosperity. President Biden also raised ongoing concerns about China’s non-market economic practices, which harm American workers and families, and workers and families around the world.

Concerning the most anticipated hot button issue, Russia’s ongoing military offensive in Ukraine:

President Biden raised Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine and Russia’s irresponsible threats of nuclear use. President Biden and President Xi reiterated their agreement that a nuclear war should never be fought and can never be won and underscored their opposition to the use or threat of use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine. President Biden also raised concerns about the DPRK’s provocative behavior, noted all members of the international community have an interest in encouraging the DPRK to act responsibly, and underscored the United States’ ironclad commitment to defending our Indo-Pacific Allies.

Thus the two sides reiterated their agreement that the Ukraine crisis should never reach the point of spiraling toward nuclear rhetoric or war.

From the Chinese side, the first statement at the conclusion of the meeting issued via Xinhua said “China and the United States should take history as a mirror and let it guide the future.”

Flight diverted to Atlanta after passenger made threats with box cutter

A commercial flight from Cincinnati to Tampa was diverted to Atlanta on Friday night after a disruptive passenger was seen with a box cutter.

The Frontier Airlines flight made an unplanned landing at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, where one person, not identified by police, was taken into custody. Authorities later found a second box cutter in the suspect’s belongings. The incident did not result in any injuries.

Lillian Hoffman, who was aboard the flight, said the suspect had threatened to use the box cutters to harm passengers.

UNITED FLIGHT ATTENDANT TAKEN TO HOSPITAL FOLLOWING INCIDENT WITH ‘DISRUPTIVE CUSTOMER’

“When he went to go to the bathroom, the passenger in the window seat looked at me and said, ‘Hey he has a knife and he told me he was threatening to stab people, we need to say something to somebody,’” Hoffman told WLWT-News. “So I went up and talked to the flight attendants in the front of the airplane and let them know like this guy has a box knife and he’s been telling us he wants to stab people.”

Following the emergency landing and the suspect’s arrest, the airline deplaned all other passengers and canceled the flight.

Box cutters are prohibited on airplanes. It was not immediately clear how the suspect managed to bring the instrument on board. In a statement, the Transportation Security Administration said it had started an internal review of the incident.
