There IS a way to swim beneath the tsunami: if you are in open water, you can diving beneath the tsunami to the water below the tsunami (waves are typically as deep as they are high). But the tsunami is many tens of feet deep. So you’d best be an expert free diver to be able to get that deep to begin with.
