Virginia Beach police ID man killed in DUI wreck involving wrong-way driver

A wrong-way driver has been charged in a crash that killed a man in Virginia Beach last week.

Around 2:20 a.m. on Aug. 23, Virginia Beach police officers responded to a crash in the 600 block of London Bridge Road, according to a release. That’s near Oceana Naval Air Station.

Steven White II, a 37-year-old from Norfolk, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

An investigation revealed his vehicle was hit by another driven by 26-year-old Erwin Marroquin-Herrera, of Virginia Beach, when Marroquin-Herrera was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of London Bridge Road, according to police.

Marroquin-Herrera and his passenger were taken to a hospital with serious injuries, police said.

Marroquin-Herrera has been charged with manslaughter, DUI and two counts of possession of fake identification, according to the release.
