Male teacher body slams female high school student during musical chairs

The mother of a Florida teen is taking legal action after her daughter was slammed to the ground by a male instructor during a musical chairs competition at a pep rally.

Nyla Millikin, 16, suffered bruised ribs and a concussion during the game, according to News4JAX in Jacksonville, where the injuries occurred.

“When the music stopped, you know how somebody pulls the chair and runs? I did that, sat down, then he ran after me, picked me up, and then slammed me,” Millikin said.

Her mother, Joanna Millikin, posted footage of the alleged violence on TikTok.

“I want justice to be done, because ain’t no teacher should be that close to a student they didn’t know,” the upset mom said Monday.

Social media users overwhelmingly agreed the teacher overreacted based on what they saw, but some observers didn’t think he intended to harm the student.

“Mr. You got some explaining to do!!” wrote one commenter.

The victim’s mom told News4JAX that she met with Westside High School’s principal, who expressed surprise over what occurred in his gym. The school district said the staffer in question was “reassigned” pending an internal investigation.

A law firm representing the Millikin family said it’s further examining what occurred and intends to “take appropriate actions.”

No criminal charges have been filed against the unidentified teacher, though Joanna Millikin is hoping local law enforcement further looks into the matter.
