Bella Glenn scored twice and assisted on another as Cox opened the season with a 6-0 victory over St. Anne’s-Belfield at the Ring of Honor tournament at the USA Regional Field Hockey Training Center in Virginia Beach this weekend. Sophomore goalie Sammi Terry registered her first shutout for the Falcons, who continue a tough start to the season by traveling to Norfolk Academy Tuesday for a 4 p.m. contest and then hosting state private school power Collegiate of Richmond Friday at 3.
Norfolk Academy went 1-1 at the Ring of Honor tournament, losing to reigning Kentucky state champion Assumption 7-5 on Friday and then beating Kellam 7-2 a day later. Allie Tyszko totaled four goals and three assists for the Bulldogs over the weekend.
Erin Seery recorded two goals and an assist as Hickory claimed a 5-4 upset over Nansemond River. The Hawks also got a 1-0 victory over Cape Henry Collegiate in the Ring of Honor tourney courtesy of Caroline Jones’ second quarter tally.
Goalkeeper Payton Devalda came up with 19 saves, including one on a penalty stroke-attempt as Cape Henry toppled Princess Anne 5-0.

York hosts Grafton in a Bay Rivers District tilt Tuesday at 4:30 p.m., while Eastern District rivals square off Wednesday at 4 p.m., when Maury travels to Granby.
In the Southeastern District, Nansemond River plays at Great Bridge on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The Warriors then host Princess Anne Friday afternoon at 4.
