UCF’s showdown with former Super Bowl coach Bill Belichick and North Carolina on Sept. 20 will have a national audience, with the game set to air on Fox at 3:30 p.m.
It’s the first time the Knights (2-0) will be featured on a national broadcast this season after their wins over Jacksonville State and North Carolina A&T were both featured on ESPN’s streaming service, ESPN+.
The game features two of the biggest storylines in college football this season: the return of Scott Frost to UCF and Belichick, a six-time Super Bowl-winning coach with the New England Patriots, taking over the Tar Heels (1-1) program.
The contest will be the first meeting between the programs, although UNC was supposed to play UCF twice previously. A 2018 meeting in Chapel Hill was canceled due to Hurricane Florence and a 2020 game in Orlando was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is the fifth time since joining the Big 12 in 2023 that UCF has been featured in a game on Fox. The Knights are 1-3 in those contests, with the only win coming at TCU (35-34) on Sept. 14, 2024.
Frost played safety for Belichick when he was a member of the New York Jets in 1997-98.
