Another vape location in CT raided for fifth time, allegedly turning up marijuana products

Police have raided another vape shop in Norwalk — the site of several prior searches during similar investigations — and allegedly seized multiple pounds of marijuana products, leading to the 16-year-old clerk facing charges.

The most recent raid occurred Wednesday at the A&Z Tobacco and Vape Shop at 108 Connecticut Ave., according to Lt. Tomasz Podgorski of the Norwalk Police Department.

The search was carried out by the department’s Special Services Division and allegedly turned up 2.32 pounds of marijuana in pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes and containers or bags, 1.08 pounds of THC vape products and 1.22 pounds of cannabis gummies, Podgorski said. He said investigators also allegedly seized 15.8 pounds of nitrous oxide flavored gas — which can be abused by inhaling it.

Most of the items that were seized were allegedly found inside a concealed trap built into a shelving unit in the store, Podgorski said.

According to Podgorski, this is the fifth time authorities have carried out a search and seizure warrant at this location in connection with an investigation into marijuana sales, though he noted that the most recent search was the first one under the name of A&Z Tobacco and Vape. He noted that the shop does not have a license to sell cannabis.

Following the search, a 16-year-old employee was issued a juvenile summons on charges of possession with intent to sell over 1kg of cannabis, possession of paraphernalia, sale of 1kg or more of cannabis and violation of restricted substances.

The search at A&Z comes just a day after police raided R&R Convenience and Smoke at 213 Main St., which officials said was the fifth such search there in connection with an investigation into unlicensed marijuana sales. The search at R&R allegedly turned up about 1.5 pounds of marijuana products and several bottles of nitrous oxide, leading to the arrest of 27-year-old Mohamed Anam of the Bronx, New York.

According to the state Department of Consumer Protection, R&R’s Electronic Cigarette Dealer registration was suspended in August 2025 following what was at that time the fourth raid there since December 2024. Podgorski this week said the vape shop’s license is suspended “pending review.”
