M&T Bank customers reporting online outages, missing direct deposits

Widespread outages affecting customers with M&T Bank accounts were reported Friday morning.

More than 2,000 customers reported having an issue as of about 9 a.m., according to DownDetector.com — a website that says it provides real-time monitoring of issues and outages affecting “vital services.”

In response to a post made on X by StatusIsDown.com, which shared a post about the reported outages, M&T Bank said it was experiencing “intermittent issues” with its online and mobile banking.”

“We’re working as quickly as possible to resolve the issue, and we apologize for the inconvenience,” M&T wrote. “Thank you for your patience.”

A number of X users who tagged M&T Bank reported that they had not received their direct deposits on Friday.

“We are currently experiencing issues impacting certain platforms, including mobile,” a spokesperson for M&T said in a statement. “We are working closely with our technology team to resolve this matter. The satisfaction of our customers is of utmost importance to us, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”

According to Matt Smith, a spokesperson for the Connecticut Department of Banking, the department as of 9:30 a.m. had not received any “inquiries or complaints” about M&T’s Connecticut branches.

M&T bank has hundreds of locations across the eastern seaboard which are most heavily concentrated in New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Maryland, according to its website. In 2022, M&T announced it would acquire People’s United Bank and take over the more than 400 branches in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts and other area states.
