Ticked Off! @Red light delays

Know how to create long delays at red lights? Orange County does. There is an ongoing back up daily at Schofield Road and State Road 545/ Avalon Road.  Now they are twice as long since they closed off a lane on 545. Any thoughts on doing this work at night? Stupid is as stupid does.

I just want to point out to the poster who complained about all of the drivers in Florida coming from elsewhere. There have to be hundreds of thousands of motorists who are native Floridians (like myself), and that most of us native Florida motorists (to give us the benefit of the doubt) do our level best to be safe drivers.

I must have a sign on my back bumper that reads, “Please Tailgate Me!” I’m keeping up with traffic — I have nowhere to go! Or, if I’m not in traffic, I’m driving 5-10 mph over the limit, and they’re STILL tailgating me!  Women in minivans and SUVs. One of them followed me into a Walmart gas station (two inches away from my rear bumper). Her face buried in her phone. She will never realize how awful she is.

Why do the TV weather forecasters only ever display heavy rain totals?  How about ALL measuring  sites?  You use science for prediction.  Statistics would verify your inaccuracy.

Spectrum put flags in the lawns of a couple of yards in my neighborhood and ran some wire that is now laying in the gutter/street. It’s been like this for about three weeks. What are they waiting for?

The flip side

Thanks to the American Cancer Society volunteers who drive cancer patients to and from their treatments in Volusia County and around the state. More drivers are needed.

Thank heaven for Scott Maxwell. His Sept. 16 Sentinel column titled “Florida’s insurance mess — big salaries, missing flood insurance, underfunded companies” is a must-read for any homeowner.  If your insurance agent has been pressuring you to insure with some of these companies, WHY?  What’s in it for them?  Higher agency commissions at the risk of not being fully protected?  I still wonder about the timing of Jimmy Patronis’ political ambitions and these sketchy companies suddenly being OK’d to sell policies.
