CT man arrested after police allegedly found meth in his vehicle

A man was arrested on Monday after police in Newington and West Hartford pulled him over in a vehicle known to engage authorities in pursuit and found suspected meth.

The vehicle was spotted just after 9 p.m. on Stoddard Avenue by patrol officers who learned that the 2020 Dodge Challenger was being sought by Connecticut State Police, according to Sgt. Matthew D’Esposito of the Newington Police Department.

The vehicle, which was known to engage officers from multiple agencies in pursuit, was followed by Newington officers and those from the West Hartford Police Department, who D’Esposito said kept it under surveillance “until the opportunity to safely stop the vehicle presented itself.”

The driver was stopped in the area of Main Street and New Britain Avenue in West Hartford. Newington K-9 Officer Casasanta was alerted by his K-9 partner Ray that narcotics were detected in the vehicle, D’Esposito said. A search then allegedly turned up 3.9 grams of suspected methamphetamine as well as unspecified drug paraphernalia.

The driver, who only identified himself to police as “Ghost,” was arrested and identified as 21-year-old Tanner Lee Flori of Somers, D’Esposito said. He faces charges of  interfering with an officer, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and disobeying the signal of an officer.

Flori was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and turned over to state police. He is scheduled to face a judge in New Britain Superior Court on Oct. 6.
