One person was taken to a hospital following a three-car crash in South Windsor on Tuesday involving a wrong-way driver and a vehicle that rolled over.
The crash occurred around 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday shortly after a driver reportedly got onto Interstate 291 in Windsor, going east in the westbound lanes, and crossed over the Connecticut River into South Windsor, according to the South Windsor Fire Department.
Fire officials said they received an unconfirmed report that the wrong-way driver struck at least one car, causing it to roll over. A third vehicle was also involved.
According to fire officials, the wrong-way driver fled the scene on foot.
The driver of the car that rolled over was taken to an area hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, fire officials said.
Traffic in the area of the crash was reduced to one lane as crews worked to clear the road.
The crash remains under investigation by Connecticut State Police.
