Police are investigating after a body was found in the Quinnipiac River in North Haven on Sunday.
Emergency crews responded to the river after kayakers reported finding the body, according to the North Haven Police Department.
Officers were assisted by the Connecticut State Police Dive Team in recovering the body, which was turned over to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The body was identified as 32-year-old Joel Auguste of Shelton, according to police.
“We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time,” the police department said in a statement.
North Haven police are still investigating the death and are being assisted by the medical examiner’s office and the Shelton Police Department. Police said Auguste’s body showed “no overt signs of foul play.”
The cause and manner of death have not yet been determined, a spokesperson for the medical examiner’s office said Tuesday.
