Quarterback Antoine Richardson ran for three touchdowns and threw for another score as the Springers handed Phoebus a rare second consecutive loss Thursday night at Darling Stadium.

Phoebus starting QB Maurikus Banks, an Old Dominion commit, missed Thursday’s game with an injury he suffered in last week’s loss to Warwick. Matteo Radcliff, a junior, got the starting nod against Highland Springs.

The Springers led 14-0 at halftime after Richardson threw a 34-yard TD pass to Jalen Padmore and ran for a 15-yard score. The Phantoms were denied once in the red zone.

Richardson added TD runs of 16 and 9 yards after halftime – the last with 3:41 left.

Highland Springs improved to 3-2 after earlier losses to Hough of the Charlotte, North Carolina, area, and Class 4 Dinwiddie by a total of 10 points.

The Class 4 Phantoms, ranked sixth in Hampton Roads, fell to 2-2 and lost their second straight game. They fell 34-20 last week to Warwick, a loss that snapped Phoebus’ 51-game winning streak.
