UCF (3-2) at Cincinnati (4-1), Saturday, Noon, FS1
Latest line: Cincinnati is favored by 10 1/2 points
Matt Murschel, UCF Knights writer: Cincinnati 30, UCF 20
UCF raced out to an early 14-0 lead before Kansas stormed back in the second half to come away with a 27-20 win at Acrisure Bounce House Stadium. It was the second straight loss for the Knights this season and the fifth consecutive loss to a Big 12 opponent. Once again, UCF enters a game week with uncertainty at quarterback as starter Tayven Jackson left the game against the Jayhawks in the fourth quarter with an apparent arm injury. His status is uncertain against Cincinnati, as is that of backup Jacurri Brown. Meanwhile, Cincinnati is coming off an impressive 38-30 win over then-No. 14 Iowa State.
Mike Bianchi, Sports Columnist: Cincinnati 35, UCF 21
Anybody who thought Scott Frost was going to return to UCF and suddenly make the Knights relevant again were delusional. The lopsided victory over North Carolina seemed meaningful at the time, but Bill Belichick’s team is clearly one of the worst in the Power 4. UCF starting quarterback Tayven Jackson is injured, which means Cam Fancher may be pressed into duty again. Cincinnati, led by dual-threat quarterback Brendan Sorsby, has one of the best offenses in the country. However, the Bearcats’ defense is definitely vulnerable. UCF is just too thin, too injured and too inexperienced to win this game.
Adam Lichtenstein, College Football writer: Cincinnati 38, UCF 24
The Bearcats, 10 1/2-point favorites against UCF, are on a roll. After a disappointing loss to Nebraska to open the year, Cincinnati has reeled off four straight wins, including a victory over then-No. 14 Iowa State last week. Bearcats quarterback Brendan Sorsby has been on fire, throwing 12 touchdowns to just one interception this season. He also has completed 66% of his passes for 1,257 yards, while rushing for 291 yards. Cincinnati’s offense will likely be too much for the Knights to overcome.
