CT man faces multiple child sexual assault charges following extensive investigation in Willimantic

Following a lengthy investigation in Willimantic, a man has been accused of sexually assaulting a child.

Kenner Heredia-Santiago, 38, was arrested Wednesday following an extensive investigation initiated by the Willimantic Police Department‘s Detective Division earlier this year, according to police.

Police said the investigation began on Jan. 26, following an alleged incident reported by a minor.

Following an investigation, police submitted an arrest warrant for Heredia-Santiago, which was granted in Danielson Superior Court last month, according to police.

Since the signing of the warrant last month, detectives searched for Heredia-Santiago. On Wednesday, a Willimantic police detective learned of his location in Norwich. Willimantic police notified the Norwich Police Department, whose officers assisted in taking Heredia-Santiago into custody.

Heredia-Santiago was transported back to the Willimantic Police Department where he was processed on charges of first-degree sexual assault with a victim under 18 years old, actor in a guardian role, first-degree sexual assault and illegal sexual contact with a victim under 16. He was being held on a court-set bond and was scheduled to appear at Danielson Superior Court on Thursday.

“The Willimantic Police Department is committed to conducting thorough investigations and ensuring justice for all victims, and thanks the Norwich Police Department for its valuable assistance in the apprehension of Kenner,” the department said in a release on Thursday.
