A parolee was fatally shot in a barrage of bullets fired by another ex-con at a Bronx intersection Wednesday evening, cops said.
A parole officer dialed 911 after gunfire rang out around 5:50 p.m. near Alexander Ave. and Bruckner Blvd. in Mott Haven, where the 27-year-old parolee was blasted in the torso and back, police sources said.
EMS transported the victim to Lincoln Hospital, where he died.
The shooting erupted down the block from a parole office. According to ABC7, the victim was leaving the parole office when the gunfire erupted.
Clarissa Alayeto recounted that she was on her way to pick up her niece and nephew at a nearby school when she heard three shots fired — and saw people in ski masks saying, “Move, move, move.”
“The person who was shot wasn’t moving. The parole officers had their guns out trying to protect the area,” Alayeto said. “They were saying, ‘Back up, back up, back up.’ I heard someone saying, ‘This was my brother.’ ”
Alayeto said the gunplay caught her off-guard — she recounted she saw the victim laid out as EMS responders were doing chest compressions — and that the area is residential, with a school nearby.
“It seems it’s not safe anywhere in the city,” she lamented. “People retaliate — that’s what this seems like. It’s disappointing, it’s crazy and it’s heartbreaking.”
Five shell casings were seen on the ground at the scene.
No arrests were made as a search for the gunman continued, cops said.
Both the victim and assailant were ex-offenders, sources said.
