CT man admits to sexually assaulting young boy in his care over two years

An East Hartford man has admitted to sexually assaulting a young boy in his care between 2019 and 2021.

Octavio DeJesus, 46, pleaded guilty in Hartford Superior Court on Oct. 16 to two counts of second-degree sexual assault, according to the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice.

In February 2021, a juvenile boy told to a relative that, between May 20, 2019, and February 24, 2021, when he was between the ages of 6 and 8, he was sexually assaulted by a caregiver, identified as DeJesus, the DCF said.

The boy’s relative notified the Connecticut Department of Children and Families, who contacted the East Hartford Police Department, according to the DCJ. The boy alleged that the abuse would occur in the evening or during lunch time, while he was home for remote learning.

“The Hartford State’s Attorney’s Office would like to thank Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA) for their planned assistance in event of a trial and continued support for child victims having to prepare to relive their trauma in courtrooms across the state,” according to a statement from State’s Attorney Sharmese L. Walcott.

DeJesus’ sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 8, 2026 at Hartford Superior Court.
