Lehigh Valley high school football roundup: Parkland cruises over Stroudsburg and more from Week 11

Here is a roundup of Friday night’s top Lehigh Valley-are high school football games in Week 11.

District 11 6A Quarterfinal

Parkland 49, Stroudsburg 14

Parkland dominated from start to finish in its District 11 6A quarterfinal win over visiting Stroudsburg, rolling to a 49-14 victory.

TJ Lawrence set the tone early, scoring twice in the first quarter on runs of 21 and 33 yards to give the Trojans a 14-0 lead. Stroudsburg’s Keyen Johnson cut the deficit to 14-7 early in the second quarter with a 7-yard touchdown run, but Parkland quickly regained control. A pick-six extended the lead to 21-7, and a 50-yard touchdown pass pushed it to 28-7 late in the half.

Mounties quarterback Jackson Mitchell connected with Josh Ivers-Green on a 5-yard touchdown just before halftime to make it 28-14, but that was as close as Stroudsburg would get. Lawrence added an 80-yard touchdown on a screen pass early in the third, and Naquan Thomason followed with a 25-yard scoring run to make it 42-14.

After another Stroudsburg turnover, Finn Coen found Blake Nassry for a back-shoulder touchdown to close out the third quarter. With the running clock in effect, Parkland’s defense finished strong to advance to the District 11 6A semifinals.

District 11 1A quarterfinals

Tri-Valley 3, Marian Catholic 0

Tri-Valley earned a gritty 3-0 win over Marian in the District 11 Class 1A quarterfinals, capitalizing on a late Marian fumble to secure the defensive battle.

The Bulldogs got all the points they needed in the first quarter when Nathan Hillard drilled a 50-yard field goal with 20 seconds left in the opening frame. Both defenses dominated the rest of the way, with neither offense able to sustain a drive deep into opposing territory.

Marian looked poised to tie or take the lead late, but a costly fumble gave Tri-Valley possession in the final minutes, allowing the Bulldogs to run out the clock and advance to the semifinals.

District 1 6A first round

Pennridge 22, Plymouth Whitemarsh 21

Pennridge pulled off a dramatic 22-21 victory over Plymouth Whitemarsh in the District 1 Class 6A first round, earning its first playoff win since 2020.

Plymouth Whitemarsh opened the scoring when James Cain broke loose for a 57-yard touchdown run, giving the Colonials a 6-0 lead after a missed extra point. Pennridge answered early in the second quarter as Noah Keating connected with Connor McMillan on a 6-yard fourth-down touchdown pass, and the extra point put the Rams ahead 7-6. Plymouth Whitemarsh responded quickly, as Michael Bongard ran it in from 15 yards out, and quarterback Cole Reilly converted the two-point attempt to push the Colonials in front 14-7.

After halftime, Plymouth Whitemarsh used some trickery on a flea-flicker, as Reilly found Bongard again for a 21-yard score to make it 21-7. The Rams battled back, with Keating scoring on a 1-yard run late in the third to trim the deficit to 21-14.

In the closing minute, Princeton commit Ryan Rowe powered across the goal line from a yard out and then bulldozed his way in for the go-ahead two-point conversion, giving Pennridge a 22-21 lead with under a minute left. The Rams defense stood tall, knocking down Plymouth Whitemarsh’s final pass at the buzzer to seal the thrilling comeback win and advance to the next round of the playoffs.
