The annual Christkindlmarkt and Peeps chick drop in Bethlehem are in the running to be named two of the top holiday events in the country.
USA Today nominated Christkindlmarkt for its 10BEST Readers’ Choice Awards for Best Holiday Market, an ArtsQuest news release announced, letting residents vote daily until Dec. 1 on the USA Today website. USA Today will announce the winners at noon Dec. 10.
“The event features handmade items from over 200 artisans and crafters, live festive performances, and a wide variety of diverse food and beverage options,” the USA Today website said. “Shop both indoors and out, visit with Saint Nicholas, and take family photos with large holiday decorations. Christkindlmarkt is nestled among the historic Bethlehem Steel Blast Furnaces, making for a truly unique experience in the Christmas City.”
USA Today also nominated the Peeps chick drop during PeepsFest as one of the country’s best New Year’s Eve drops. The voting schedule and winners announcement will follow the same dates as the holiday market category.
Christkindlmarkt also was nominated by the website The Zoe Report as one of the country’s best Christmas markets; votes are being accepted on its website until Nov. 12. It will announce winners on Nov. 20.
The 33rd Christkindlmarkt will run Thursday through Sunday from Nov. 14 through Dec. 21, the ArtsQuest website said. It will feature new additions such as Winter Wonderland and a glassblowing experience.
PeepsFest will run Dec. 30-31.
