NORFOLK — Authorities on Saturday said an early morning shooting at the Calvert Square community was under investigation. Police said a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers were alerted to a shooting around residences off Bagnall Road at about 3:20 a.m. Police called investigation of the shooting a homicide.

Additional information, including a motive or the shooting’s circumstances, has not been released by the Norfolk Police Department.

A shooting near Calvert Square transpired on Oct. 30, which proved fatal for a 56-year-old man. At Calvert Square, a public housing project that city officials have long sought to redevelop, two separate fatal shootings occurred days apart in July.
