Quick thoughts from South Florida Sun Sentinel staffers on the Dolphins’ victory over the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium as Miami improved to 6-7 and won its fourth game in a row:
Chris Perkins, Dolphins Columnist
The Dolphins were shining stars Sunday. They dispatched the Jets with a fairly clean performance (OK, punt coverage had some blemishes) in cold weather, dispelling a false narrative, and staying in the AFC wild-card playoff picture. The running game was the star of the show for the Dolphins but there were plenty of other areas to be proud, including not committing any turnovers. Nice work.
David Furones, Dolphins Writer
Defense and run game again for the Dolphins, who kept the Jets out of the end zone offensively and didn’t make it so Tua had to do much. A winning formula for Miami during this win streak, and the Dolphins go into that Monday night game against the Steelers 6-7.
Steve Svekis, Assistant Sports Editor
The Dolphins run game, even with De’Von Achane out for a half, was again dominant, piling up more than 230 yards on the ground. Now, they have a shot. And piling up this sort of performance in sub-20 degrees next Monday in Pittsburgh will absolutely have the Dolphins back in the playoff hunt.
Keven Lerner, Assistant Sports Editor
The Jets offense, compromised as it has been under normal circumstances, was an utter zero when Tyrod Taylor exited. Offensively for Miami, the tectonic shift from the pass-happy Tyreek days of 2022-24 to the bludgeoning run-first personality of now is like 1983 Don Shula with brand-new Dan Marino in reverse. Now, a chance at .500 in a difficult environment in Pittsburgh next Monday night.
