CT man accused of stealing iPhones worth over $4K

A man is facing charges after allegedly stealing iPhones from a FedEx worth over $4,000, police said.

Maurice D. Mitchell, 28, of East Hartford, was arrested on an active warrant around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday and charged with third-degree larceny, according to the South Windsor Police Department.

Police said Mitchell’s charge stems from a February 2022 investigation at FedEx on 40 Kennedy Road in which he was allegedly caught with five stolen iPhones valued at $4,295.

Mitchell was taken into custody by the Windsor Locks Police Department and transferred to the South Windsor Police Department, where he was processed and released on a $5,000 non-surety bond. He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Dec. 24.
