I-95 back open after fatal motorcycle crash in Volusia County

Northbound Interstate 95 was shut down on Friday afternoon after a fatal crash in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers remained on scene near mile marker 235 in Oak Hill where a 2003 Harley-Davidson Dyna Wilde Glide with a rider and passenger crashed around 2:07 p.m., FHP stated.

The sequence of events that led to this crash are still under investigation.

The rider, a 45-year-old Sanford man, was not injured and remained on the scene.

The passenger, an adult woman, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Northbound traffic remained detoured for several hours with traffic being diverted at U.S. 1 at mile marker 230.

The highway was reopened as of 5:30 p.m.
