Grateful to hold a Sentinel after 150 years
Congratulations to the Orlando Sentinel on its 150th anniversary. When I was a small boy I used to enjoy reading two newspapers a day: The Newark Evening News and the Daily News of New York. I am grateful to be able to have a newspaper to read. Although it can be very expensive, reading a newspaper is a special joy that the digital newspaper does not have. Wishing the Sentinel many more years with the hope that more people will subscribe and keep the printed paper going.

Sentinel deserves kudos today
As a longtime subscriber, thank you for continuing journalism excellence.
My grandparents and parents read their respective newspapers, starting their day. I look forward to seeing the paper on my driveway every morning. Could I complain about a few things? Sure. Will I, as we start the new year? Absolutely not.

Want fewer lawyers? Don’t break law
Kudos to the Florida Supreme Court rejecting Attorney General James Uthmeier’s request to hire out-of-state lawyers for three years without taking/passing the Florida Bar exam (“Florida Supreme Court rejects Uthmeier proposal for lawyers to skip state bar exam,” Dec. 31). If Tallahassee would stop breaking the laws of our state, Uthmeier would not need to hire out-of-state lawyers to cover his workload. Problem solved!

CNN hit new low New Year’s Eve
We decided to stay home Dec. 31 after many years of going to our country club to celebrate the New Year. CNN was the only station we could find with coverage at Times Square, and we were shocked at how disgusting, partisan and inappropriate the hosts, Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper, were. There were sexually inappropriate comments made, very political comments against outgoing New York City Mayor Eric Adams. The hosts drank tequila on air, and seemed to be out of control of themselves and each other. Most of what they said and did had nothing to do with the event they were covering.
I knew that CNN was having problems, but I had no idea they had sunk to this new low. This kind of depravity, licentiousness and polemical theatrics has no place on such a traditional and once wholesome presentation of the coming of a new year in our great nation and especially on the eve of the 250th anniversary of the greatest experiment in democracy and freedom in history.

CBS News has a big black eye
Why would CBS News decide that it was not relevant to show qualified reporting about anything, much less the story behind the removal of 280 men in the name of our “immigration policy,” supposedly dangerous criminals treated like animals, deported without telling them where, without just cause or due process, to a hellhole prison in El Salvador known for its torturous treatment and in all probability, never getting out?
The network put the kibosh on this story for inexplicable reasons. This “60 Minutes” segment was canceled by Bari Weiss, editor-in-chief of CBS News. The public does not know what’s really happening.
Why would CBS cover this up?
If you don’t see it, then it didn’t happen.
