NEWPORT NEWS — The Andrew Shannon Martin Luther King Jr. parade, Feeding 5000 and Gospel music concert will be held next Sunday, Jan. 18.
Events are free, and co-presented by For The People MOS Inc.
The parade is at 1:30 p.m. and will begin at 13785 Warwick Blvd. and will proceed to New Beech Grove Baptist Church at 361 Beechmont Drive.
The Feeding 5000 event at 2:30 p.m. will follow the parade. Pre-packaged meals will be distributed to individuals and families who attend the event. The distribution of non-perishable food items will be made available to take to homes of the elderly, the disabled, families facing food insecurities or with transportation barriers.
Sentara Cares will be available to conduct blood pressure, diabetic and body mass index screenings.
The Gospel Music Celebration concert at 4 p.m. will feature speaker and pastor Willard G. Maxwell Jr. with music by Maurice Yancey and One Accord and others.
