PORTSMOUTH — A man died following a shooting Wednesday evening in Portsmouth, according to a news release by police.

At about 7:09 p.m., Portsmouth police received a call about a shooting in the 1100 block of Victory Boulevard. That block has single-family homes and is near Paradise Creek. At the scene, police found a man with gunshot wounds, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the nearby 100 block of Channing Avenue, another man was found with gunshot wounds and he was taken to a hospital.

This is an active investigation and police did not release any additional information.
