CT man found with 2,900 files of child sexual abuse material gets 10 years in federal prison

A Connecticut man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after investigators say they found him with nearly 3,000 files containing child pornography.

Ryan Perry, 39, of East Hartford faced sentencing on Tuesday in federal court in Hartford where U.S. District Judge Vernon D. Oliver ordered that his prison term be followed by 20 years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut.

The sentencing came after Perry in October pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, federal officials said. The penalties he faced were enhanced based on his prior history.

According to authorities, Perry in 2013 was convicted in state court on a first-degree possession of child pornography charge. In that investigation, it was found that he used a peer-to-peer file sharing network to trade videos containing child sexual abuse, officials said. Perry was sentenced to five years in prison and 10 years of probation and was released from state prison in May 2018.

In January 2025, Perry was arrested for probation violations following a home visit in 2024, officials said. A separate federal investigation identified Perry as a possible user of a darknet site where child pornography was uploaded and shared, officials said.

In April 2025, an analysis of a hard drive seized from Perry revealed about 2,900 images and videos of child sex abuse material, federal officials said.

Perry was arrested on a federal criminal complaint on April 29, 2025, and has been in custody since.
