Weather Service: Frigid wind chills, possible snow headed to CT. Here’s what to expect

A cold weather advisory is in effect for parts of Connecticut through 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, according to the National Weather Service.

Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties are expected to receive “very cold wind chills as low as 18 below,” and this is “from 7 p.m. this evening to 11 a.m. EST Friday,” according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service is warning affected residents to bundle up, as the freezing wind chills “could result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken.”

Additionally, a chance of snow could impact Connecticut this coming weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

For Hartford, the odds of snowfall are low starting Saturday night, with a chance of precipitation of 20% and winds between 5 to 11 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Gusts may be as high as 22 mph with a predicted low of 6 degrees.

The chance of precipitation rises to 40% on Sunday, with temperatures expected to warm to a high of 24 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Winds are expected between 14-17 mph with gusts as high as 31.

By Sunday, the chance of precipitation drops to 30% with expected temperatures as low as 11 degrees.

Thankfully, temperatures should warm somewhat by Monday, according to the National Weather Service, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 31 degrees.
