After dominating Tennessee for their fifth ranked win of the 2025-26 season, the UConn women’s basketball team remains the unanimous No. 1 team in the AP Top 25 poll.
The Huskies earned a pair of blowout victories last week to remain undefeated, dismantling Xavier 97-39 on Wednesday before routing the No. 19 Lady Vols 96-66 on Sunday. Tennessee was No. 15 at the time of the game, but its ranking took a dive after it also lost a mid-week matchup with Mississippi State.
UConn currently holds four wins over top-10 teams, headlined by their season-opener victory over Louisville. The Cardinals were No. 20 preseason but have won 14 games in a row and are up to No. 6 in the poll this week. The Huskies also beat No. 9 Ohio State 100-68 on Nov. 16, No. 8 Michigan 72-69 on Nov. 21 and No. 10 Iowa 90-64 on Dec. 20. USC, who UConn dominated 79-51 on Dec. 13, has been out of the poll since Week 9 but received a vote this week thanks to an upset of Iowa on Thursday.
UConn’s average margin of victory over currently-ranked teams is 20.8 points. It also holds nine wins over power conference opponents by an average of 28.2 points.
Vanderbilt, coached by Huskies great Shea Ralph, spent three straight polls in the top 5, but the Commodores dropped to No. 7 this week following an upset by No. 13 Ole Miss. Princeton, led by UConn alum Carla Berube, also suffered a surprising loss this week to Columbia in Ivy League play that bumped the Tigers down four places to No. 23 in the poll.
