Va. Wesleyan routs Randolph, moves into tie atop ODAC

Amari Moorer had 23 points, 11 rebounds and six assists Saturday as Virginia Wesleyan zoomed to a 79-52 home victory Saturday over Randolph, climbing back into a tie for first place in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference with Randolph-Macon.

Omari DeVeaux added 19 points and five assists, and Paul Anderson had 12 points and six rebounds.

The Marlins (15-6, 10-2) led almost all the way and had eight turnovers to the WildCats’ 20.

Khalil Caple, from King’s Fork High, scored15 points and Woodside alum Aveion Tucker had 13 for Randolph (4-17, 0-12).

Liberty 79, Missouri State 76: Zach Cleveland recorded a triple-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists in Lynchburg in the Flames’ 14th straight win.

Cleveland was 8-of-13 shooting. Brett Decker Jr. added 20 points for the Flames (20-3, 12-0), the runaway leaders in Conference USA, and Colin Porter scored 10 second-half points.

Keith Palek III led the Bears (13-10, 7-5) with 25 points and nine rebounds.

East Tennessee State 87, VMI 70: Blake Barkley had 22 points and 12 rebounds for the first-place Buccaneers (18-7, 10-2 Southern Conference) as they won in Lexington. Cam Morris III added 16 points, five rebounds and three steals. Maki Johnson finished 5 of 6 from 3-point range to finish with 15 points.

Linus Holmstrom led the Keydets (6-19, 1-11) with 20 points and six 3s.Tan Yildizoglu finished with 12 points, six rebounds, seven assists and three steals.

George Mason 60, Saint Joseph’s 52: Jahari Long’s 20 points led the Patriots (21-3, 9-2 Atlantic 10) as they won in Fairfax and moved into a tie for second place with VCU. Riley Allenspach had 13 points and seven rebounds.

Jaiden Glover-Toscano scored 14 for the Hawks (15-9, 7-4), whose four-game winning streak ended, and Derek Sampson had 13 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Rhode Island 82, Richmond 77: Tyler Cochran’s 34 points (23 in the second half) and 10 rebounds led the Rams (14-9, 5-5 Atlantic 10). Jahmere Tripp scored 17 points and added five rebounds.

AJ Lopez led the Spiders (13-11, 3-8) with 19 points, five assists and three steals. Mike Walz added 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists, but UR lost its sixth game in a row.

High Point 86, Radford 77: Terry Anderson had 24 points, six rebounds and three steals as the Panthers (22-4, 10-1 Big South) increased their winning streak to six. Owen Aquino totaled 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Dennis Parker Jr. finished with 24 points, nine rebounds and three steals for the Highlanders (13-13, 6-5).

Winthrop 79, Longwood 74: Logan Duncomb had 14 points, six rebounds and three steals as the Eagles (18-8, 10-1 Big South) won their 10th consecutive game by overcoming the Lancers (13-13, 5-6) in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Kody Clouet had 14 points and seven rebounds.

Longwood’s Johan Nziemi had 13 points and five rebounds, and Jacoi Hutchinson had 11 points and three steals.

James Madison 73, Toledo 71: The Dukes (12-13) edged the Rockets (12-12) in a MAC-SBC Challenge game in Harrisonburg.

Toledo trailed by as many as nine points in the second half, but went ahead 71-70 on a Leroy Blyden Jr. hook shot with 33 seconds remaining. JMU went ahead 72-71 when Justin McBride sank two free throws with 20 seconds to go. After a JMU stop, Eli Wilborn went 1 of 2 at the line for the game’s final point.

Cliff Davis scored 18 and Bradley Douglas 16 for the Dukes. Blyden had 24 points and Sonny Wilson 20 for the Rockets.

Johnson & Wales-Charlotte 99, Regent 69: The Wildcats (4-17) outplayed the visiting Royals (3-17) in Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference matchup.

Navy 82, American 73: Aidan Kehoe’s 22 points, 10 rebounds and four assists propelled the Patriot League-leading Midshipmen (19-6, 11-1) to a home victory over the Eagles (13-12, 6-6).

Donovan Draper had 18 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and four steals for Navy, which has won seven consecutive games. Greg Jones scored 17 for AU, which has lost four in a row.

Lafayette 63, Army 60: Andrew Phillips had 15 points, five rebounds and five steals for the Leopards (8-17, 5-7 Patriot League). Caleb Williams scored 14 points and Christian Humphrey had 13.

Jorn Everson led the Black Knights (10-15, 4-8) with 14 points. Army also got 12 points from Jacen Holloway. Jackson Furman had 10 points and eight rebounds.

San Diego State 88, Air Force 54: BJ Davis’ 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting helped the Aztecs (17-6, 11-2 Mountain West) win in Colorado, handing Air Force its 16th consecutive defeat.

The Falcons (3-20, 0-12) were led by Kam Sanders, who finished with 11 points and four assists.
