Maxim Naumov’s big day has arrived with the Winter Olympics men’s free skate competition, which is already underway at the Milano Ice Skating Rink.
Naumov, born in Hartford and raised in Simsbury, learning to skate at the International Skating Center of Connecticut, will skate in the second group of skaters this afternoon and is tentatively scheduled to begin his four-minute performance at 2:34 p.m. The first portion of the competition is being shown on USA and switched over to NBC at 3 p.m.
He comes into the long program in 14th place after Tuesday’s short program.
The story of losing his parents and coaches, Vadim Naumov and Evgenia Shishkova, in a plane crash just over a year ago, has been well-chronicled during the Olympic figure skating competition.
