Police in Newport News are investigating a fatal shooting early Saturday morning on J. Clyde Morris Boulevard in the central area of the city.
Around 12:15 a.m., police were called to the scene on J. Clyde Morris Boulevard, one of the main arteries of the city. When officers arrived at the scene, according to a news release, they found a man who had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
A person has been detained.
Very little information about the shooting has been released.
According to the release, “there is no threat to the community.”
