Apopka woman dies after motorcycle crash into U-turning truck, FHP says

A 25-year-old woman from Apopoka is dead after a motorcycle crash on Saturday afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

At approximately 4:09 p.m., a 2024 Ford Maverick, driven by a 60-year-old woman, was traveling westbound on east Semoran Boluevard. approaching the intersection of Lake Pleasant Road in the left turn lane, FHP said. A 2012 Harley Davidson Road King, driven by a 25-year-old man from South Carolina, was traveling eastbound in the inside inside lane in the same area.

FHP said the pickup truck attempted to make a U-turn at the intersection and entered the direct path of the motorcycle. As a result, the front of the motorcycle struck the rear of the pickup truck. This impact caused the 25-year-old motorcycle passenger to be thrown from the vehicle.

The driver and 18-year-old passenger of the pickup truck were not injured and remained on-scene, FHP said. The motorcycle driver was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The 25-year-old woman was transported to Advent Health Apopka and was pronounced dead.

This crash remains under investigation.
