
Thirteen Northampton County farms will welcome the public during this year’s Open Gate Farm Tours, noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 4 and 5.
Open Gate Farm Tours have been a local tradition for more than four decades. Each year farms throughout Northampton County “open their gates” to the public to help educate the community on exactly what they do.
Come discover the wide array of farms that are growing fruits and vegetables, making cheese and yogurt, training horses, raising alpacas and so much more.

Here are the participating farms:
1. Old Stonehouse Farm/Miller’s Egg Ranch

Old Stonehouse Farm is a working farm raising cows, horses and pigs and growing hay, grains, and other produce. They have a market offering their homegrown farm fresh ingredients from their farm to the community. Visitors can tour the farm to see the animals and enjoy samples of the homemade products from their market.
2. Elvern Farms/Hardball Cider

Hardball Cider, wine and orchard is dedicated to tradition and quality, making fresh cider and hard cider. They press apples right here on their fifth generation-owned family farm, with local food trucks and live music artists on select Fridays and Saturdays. Outdoor games and firepits on site as well as pick-your-own pumpkins and gourds.
3. Johnsonville Farm & Garden

Johnsonville Farm & Garden is an agricultural co-op complex fit with a granary, greenhouses, indoor farmers market and community agriculture space. They will offer educational tours and workshops throughout the facility along with tastings of locally raised foods at the market. Games for children and farm equipment on display.

4. Glenmar Nursery and Garden Center

Glenmar Nursery, a family-run garden center for over 40 years, has the largest selection of trees, shrubs, perennials, house plants and water gardening supplies in the Lehigh Valley. Take a walking tour of the nursery and chat with our knowledgeable staff, feed our koi in one of the six display ponds throughout the nursey, and look at our fall inventory including mums, straw bales, pumpkins, gourds, corn stalks and more. Kids can plant their own free container plant to take home.
5. Juniperdale Farm/The Produce Crib

Juniperdale Farms is family-owned and -operated, with over 1,000 acres, including 25 acres of fruit and vegetables which are sold seasonally in their farm produce stand, The Produce Crib. They will have hayrides to the pumpkin patch, a petting zoo, indoor and outdoor play areas for kids, a corn maze, apple picking and refreshments, including their own home-grown beef burgers.
6. 4-H Center of Northampton County

The Northampton County 4-H Center was purchased in the mid-1960s as a home base for the 4-H Program and 4-H Fair held every August. The site consists of a display building, kitchens, pole barn and show ring, all available for rental. It is also home to the Northampton County Junior Conservation School and other summer camps. During the Open Gate Tour, the Keystone Miniature Horse Club will have a show and demonstrations. 7. Equi-librium

Equilibrium is a nonprofit farm offering therapeutic horsemanship activities. They are Premier Accredited Center of PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) and provide individuals with physical, developmental, and emotionally challenged accessible therapy with life-changing outcomes for over 40 years. During Open Gate they will offer tours of the farm, demonstrations, and opportunities to take photos with the horses.

8. Klein Farms Dairy and Creamery

Klein Farms is a dairy farm with an onsite store offering dairy products made in their creamery year-round, featuring Happy Holstein Ice Cream. Free hayrides to the pumpkin patch will be offered during Open Gate. Food is available for purchase, face painting, local music, and other entertainment. Tours of the barn will be given, and the 4-H Dairy Club will be showing off their projects.
9. Seiple Farms

This is a fifth-generation farm celebrating over 130 years as a family farm. They offer events throughout the year, such as strawberry picking in June, sunflower festival in July/August, and their corn maze and other fall activities in October/November. They will have a free hayride to and from a 40-acre pumpkin patch and a 20-acre corn maze. There will also be farm animals to visit, pony rides, amusement rides, and food trucks. The gift shop will be open with fresh apple cider available as well as other local vendors.
10. Valley Fruits & Veggies

Valley Fruits & Veggies, now at a new location, is a family farm that is proud to grow the freshest local produce and create a place for family fun. They have pick your own strawberries in the spring, produce all summer long, then fall activities including pick your own pumpkins, glow maze and corn maze, all while hosting birthday parties and field trips.
11. Monocacy Farm Project

The Monocacy Farm Project is an educational, nonprofit farm that distributes organically grown produce to soup kitchens and food pantries throughout the Lehigh Valley. The farm has a “pick your own” program, community gardens, educational programming for all ages and abilities, and a variety of volunteer opportunities that engage youth and adults. There will be guided tours and produce available for a donation.

12. Camels Hump Farm on Johnston Estate

Camel’s Hump Farm is the 300-year-old historic farmstead on the estate of the first mayor of Bethlehem, Archibald Johnston. The farm has been preserved as open space and a nature education center. It offers programming in natural history, health and wellness, and practical skills for community members. During Open Gate, visitors can discover the farm with crafters, children’s programs, tours, a farm-to-table dinner and campfire.
13. Dale Koehler & Sons Farm

Dale Koehler & Son Farms is family-owned and operated by eigth and ninth generation father and sons. This bicentennial farm, established in 1789, specializes in beef, pork and grain production. A farm market is located directly on this working farm selling its own beef, pork and eggs. Other items sold include milk, ice cream, bread, cheese, honey, seasonal produce and fall decorations, all from local sources.
