State police are investigating a fatal head-on collision that killed one person and injured two others on Route 64 in Woodbury on Monday morning.
Troopers responded to a serious crash on Route 64 in the area of the Old Sherman Hill Road around 7:34 a.m. on Monday, according to the Connecticut State Police.
A Volkswagen Passat driven by a 33-year-old man from Woodbury was traveling east on Route 64 just before Old Sherman Hill Road as a 34-year-old Waterbury woman was driving a Nissan Rogue west on Route 64. State police said the Volkswagen veered out of its lane for an unknown reason and into oncoming traffic where it crashed head-on into the Nissan.
At the same time, an Audi A4 driven by a 47-year-old Waterbury woman and a Toyota Camry driven by a 26-year-old man from Lebanon were also heading west on Route 64 when they were involved in the collision, according to state police.
The Volkswagen driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Waterbury Hospital, state police said. The Nissan driver, identified as Marvia Morrison, was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to state police, the Audi driver was transported to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury with suspected minor injuries, and the Toyota driver was evaluated by emergency personnel at the scene and refused medical attention.
