One person died and two people were injured from a shooting in Portsmouth Saturday night, according to a press release from the Portsmouth Police Department.

Portsmouth police responded to a call for a shooting in the 4500 block of George Washington Highway at about 11:22 p.m Saturday.

When officers arrived, they located two individuals with life-threatening wounds and one victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Police later discovered that a third victim had left the scene before officers had arrived and was being treated at a local hospital.

This is an active investigation and police did not provide any details on the identities of anyone involved.
