HAMPTON — A Friday night stabbing at or around the Hampton Coliseum left a man fatally wounded and lacerated two other people. Police said Saturday morning a possible suspect is in custody.
Thousands were present that night at the Hampton Coliseum for the first of three sold-out shows this weekend for the band Phish.
Police at around 9:30 p.m. found two men with stab wounds. One had wounds that were life threatening. Officers said it was clear that an argument had broken out among several people and had escalated to violence.
Police said the person they believe to be the suspect fled on foot but was detained shortly thereafter by another group of officers.
First responders performed first aid and attempted medical assistance at the scene. The two men found with stab wounds were taken to a hospital where one of them died from his injuries, according to the Hampton Police Division. A third stab-wound victim arrived at the hospital as a walk-in, police said.
Police said an investigation is active. Additional information has not been released
