11-year-old boy critically hurt by hit-and-run driver in Brooklyn

An 11-year-old boy was struck and critically injured In Brooklyn by the driver of a sedan who fled from the disturbing crash site Monday afternoon, cops said.

The youngster was near Avenue V and Ocean Parkway in Gravesend around 5:50 p.m. when he was mowed down by a black Acura sedan traveling north on the parkway approaching the intersection with Ave V.

“I heard the crash. I saw the boy laying flat on the street not moving,” said witness Renee Beyda, 60.

A 25-year-old man was also injured by debris from the crash, cops said.

“The 25-year-old was sitting on the ground … screaming as if he was hurt,” Beyda said. “The debris must have hit him, he was sitting on the ground. He was hit in the leg,”

EMS transported both victims to Maimonides Medical Center, where the boy was in critical condition, and the injured man was in stable condition, police said.

The Acura driver took off after the collision and remained on the loose Monday night, authorities said. Police found the damaged car four blocks away on Ocean Parkway and Avenue R.

The windshield of the Acura was shattered and the front passenger side hood of the vehicle was damaged.

The NYPD’s Highway District collision investigation squad is looking into the incident.

“Oh my God, I hope the boy is going to be alright,” Beyda said.
