CHESAPEAKE — A 15-year-old who was hospitalized following a weekend shooting around the Indian River area has died, police said.

On Sunday night, officers found the unidentified boy who had been shot on Sun Avenue, in a small neighborhood close the intersection of Providence Road and South Military Highway.

He was taken to nearby hospital with injuries police said were life-threatening. On Friday afternoon, police said the teen had died.

Police said the scene was still active and an investigation was ongoing.
