A 16-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday after threats about a shooting locked down a high school in Manchester.
Officers were dispatched to Manchester High School just before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in response to a threatening complaint, according to the Manchester Police Department.
A parent reported that a 16-year-old who was not a student at the high school was allegedly on his way to the school with a gun to confront another student, police said.
According to police, officers immediate notified administration who placed the school on lock down as a precaution.
Responding officers located the 16-year-old boy and took him into custody. Police said no weapons were recovered.
The teen, who was from Hartford, is charged with second-degree breach of peace, first-degree threatening, second-degree stalking and loitering in or about school grounds.
“Due to the suspect’s age, no further identifying information will be released,” police said.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing, according to police. Anyone with addition information is asked to contact the Manchester Police Department at 860-645-5500.
“The Manchester Police Department commends the prompt response of our officers, particularly our school resource officers, and the coordinated efforts with Manchester Public Schools administration to ensure the safety of the students and staff,” police said.
