2 arrested in connection with Williamsburg shooting

WILLIAMSBURG — Two people are facing charges after a shooting in a residential area of Williamsburg left one person injured Sunday afternoon.

Police and rescue crews responded to a report of a shooting in the 100 block of Mimosa Drive just after 2 p.m. They found a 38-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper chest. The man, who is from Williamsburg, was taken to Riverside Doctors’ Hospital and then transferred to a trauma center, where he is expected to recover.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the man was in a verbal altercation with two people before the pair got into a vehicle, according to a news release. The driver then ran into the victim with the car, while the other person shot the victim, police said.

Police identified the suspects and the vehicle “within minutes,” the release said. Tina Haskett, 33, and Clinton Perry Jr., 31, both of Dendron, were arrested during a traffic stop. Haskett was charged with malicious wounding, conspiracy to commit malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Perry was charged with attempted malicious wounding, conspiracy to commit malicious wounding and felony hit and run.

Police did not say what led to the altercation.

The incident remains under investigation by the Williamsburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau.
