Two people died following a crash between an Amazon delivery truck and a sedan Saturday evening, according to a press release from the Hampton Police Division.
At about 6:52 p.m. the Hampton Public Safety Communications Center received multiple 911 calls reporting a two-vehicle collision. When police arrived, they found three people with life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of a sedan, and the driver of an Amazon delivery vehicle.
Despite administering emergency medical aid and transporting all three people to a local hospital, the driver and passenger of the sedan succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
Preliminary investigations find that the sedan was stopped at a red light in the eastbound lanes of East Pembroke Avenue. The Amazon truck was traveling southbound on North King Street when the driver lost control of the vehicle, hit a fire hydrant and then hit the sedan at the intersection.
This is an ongoing investigation and the names of the victims have not been released yet.
