25-year-old charged in fatal Chesapeake shooting

Police arrested a man on Wednesday in connection to a homicide in Chesapeake nearly two weeks ago.

Desmond Elliott, 25, has been charged with accessory before the fact to first-degree murder, robbery and two firearms charges, according to the Chesapeake Police Department.

Just before 2:10 a.m. Sept. 11, officers responded to reports of gunshots in the 2900 block of S. Military Highway in the city’s Deep Creek area, according to a release.

Yhuri Vashon Brinkley, a 30-year-old from Norfolk, had been shot and died at the scene, according to police.

The shooting is still being investigated. No other information has been released.
