Three teenagers are dead and 3 other teenagers are injured after a single-vehicle crash in Orange County early Sunday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
At approximately 1:37 a.m., a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 17-year-old boy from Apopka, was traveling eastbound on Welch Road approaching Wekiwa Drive, FHP said.
The boy lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve, FHP said. As a result, the pickup truck ran off the roadway right, struck a tree, and overturned.
FHP said the driver and two passengers, a 15-year old boy and a 14-year-old boy, were transported to area hospitals with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. A 17-year-old boy passenger was transported to Advent Health Apopka and pronounced dead.
Another 17-year-old passenger and a 13-year-old passenger were pronounced dead on scene, FHP said.
This crash remains under investigation.
