NORFOLK — Six adults have been displaced and one person is injured following a fire early Monday morning.
Norfolk Fire-Rescue responded to a fire around 1:10 a.m. in the 200 block of Hardy Avenue, according to a release. That’s a residential neighborhood near Colonna’s Shipyard. When firefighters arrived, they found a 2.5-story home engulfed in flames. The fire was deemed under control at 1:52 a.m.
One person was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with minor injuries, including burns and smoke inhalation, according to the release. No one else was injured, though six adults were displaced. The Red Cross was contacted to assist the residents.
A home to the left, which was not occupied, sustained moderate damage and a home on the right sustained minor damage. No one is believed to have been displaced from that home, NFR said.
CON Existing Structures will determine if the home needs to be demolished, according to NFR. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
