Dick Van Dyke, 99, led a “Happy Birthday” sing-along for a 6-year-old fan during a charity event at his Malibu, California home on Sunday, PEOPLE reports.

The actor and his wife, Arlene Silver, hosted the Vandy High Tea event to raise money for The Van Dyke Endowment of the Arts and a Dick Van Dyke Museum currently in development.

The young fan, Tristian, traveled with his mother from Connecticut to meet the iconic performer, according to PEOPLE.

During the gathering, the boy held Bert and Mary Poppins dolls. Along with the birthday tune, Van Dyke also performed songs from his beloved films, including “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” as well as the theme from “The Dick Van Dyke Show.”

An onlooker told PEOPLE that Van Dyke was in high spirits.

“He was so sharp, was in great health and said he’s feeling good,” the source said. “He was laughing almost the entire time and couldn’t have enjoyed himself more.”

The event, produced by Chris Isaacson Presents and hosted by Stu Shostak, took place at the couple’s home, nicknamed “Vandy Manor.” Guests were treated to sandwiches and desserts from Monrose Catering, along with live performances by The Vantastix, Dan West, and LoveyDove.

This appearance followed a last-minute cancellation in June, when Van Dyke had to miss the “Vandy Camp” comedy event due to illness, according to PEOPLE. At the time, Silver, 54, explained to attendees that at 99-and-a-half, her husband has “good days and bad days.”

Van Dyke, who will celebrate his 100th birthday on Dec. 13, has previously told people he has no intention of slowing down.

“I love what I do for a living,” he said.
