CT man allegedly found passed out in vehicle with drugs, paraphernalia

A man was arrested in Wallingford last week when police allegedly found him passed out behind the wheel and discovered that he had drugs in the car.

Jose Maldonado, 48, of Meriden faces two counts of possession of a controlled substance and a single count of possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Lt. Stephen S. Jaques, Jr., of the Wallingford Police Department.

Jaques said officers last Friday were dispatched to the area of Tractor Supply at 800 N. Colony Road just before 6:20 p.m. on the report of a man passed out inside a Chevy Corvette. Police found that the man, who was later identified as Maldonado, appeared to be asleep, according to Jaques.

Officers were able to wake Maldonado up by knocking on the windows, Jaques said. They then allegedly noticed “contraband” in the vehicle, Jaques said.

According to Jaques, K-9 Kip and his handler were requested to the scene before a search of the vehicle allegedly turned up unspecified narcotics and paraphernalia.

Following his arrest, Maldonado was released on a $10,000 non-surety bond. He is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Sept. 5.
