Plantation teen dies after dive in Florida Keys

A Plantation teen died Saturday after experiencing difficulty during a dive in the Florida Keys.

Cameron Isaiah Queen, 17, was diving off Grassy Key using a hookah rig, a system that allows air to be pumped from the surface to the diver, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said.

He was swimming back to the boat when he went underwater, according to the sheriff’s office. The Coast Guard and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission responded, and rescuers administered CPR.

He was pronounced dead at Fishermen’s Hospital in Marathon.

An autopsy is pending. Foul play is not suspected.
